  • Remuneration: $137,608 to $163,427 pa (LEVB) (inclusive of $116,280 to $138,097 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading); OR, $168,578 to $194,406 pa (LEVC) (inclusive of $142,451 to $164,275 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading).

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer - Nutrition and Dietetics to join School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Faculty of Health.

This position entails teaching, research and clinical supervision in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics. You will be required to work within a diverse team environment, including the possibility of working both on campus and offsite with partners in the health field. This position reports to the Head of School for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

QUT has offered accredited nutrition and dietetics programs for over 50 years, being one of the first established programs in the country. In 2012, the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences (ENS) was formed, bringing together the disciplines in the Faculty of Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science, Clinical Exercise Physiology, and Health and Physical Education. The School offers a range of bachelor, honours, masters and PhD degrees, including a Bachelor of Nutrition Science, Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics and a vertical masters which combining both degrees in four years (Bachelor of Nutrition Science/Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics). The School has a strong research culture with research programs in nutrition and dietetics, exercise and sports science and exercise physiology. It is anticipated that this position will develop and progress quality evaluation and research activities that will underpin excellence in clinical teaching. The School maintains strong links with Dietitians Australia (DA) with the masters courses being professional accredited with DA. The School also has in place a number of strategic alliances with leading business, industry and government groups, including Queensland Health who is a major stakeholder for the dietetic program. Academic staff members are actively engaged in applied research, continuing professional education, consulting and other outreach activities with our strategic partners. These partnerships also ensure that the School’s courses remain contemporary and relevant, drawing on emerging trends in business, industry and the profession.

What you need to succeed

Lecturer (Level B)

  1. Completion of a PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics with a current Dietitians Australia, Accredited Practising Dietitian (DA APD) accreditation.
  2. Experience designing and delivering learning activities in nutrition and dietetics, with capability in curriculum and assessment development.
  3. Evidence of contemporary experience as an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), including knowledge of Australian healthcare and professional practice standards.
  4. Developing research track record demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications commensurate with career stage, and potential to develop an independent research program and attract funding.
  5. Ability to build and maintain clinical networks/industry partnerships that enhance student placements and/or graduate outcomes.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.

Senior Lecturer (Level C)

  1. Completion of a PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics, with a sustained profile in nutrition and dietetic scholarship and a Dietitians Australia, Accredited Practicing Dietitian (DA APD) accreditation and active engagement with DA professional standards.
  2. Record of teaching excellence and innovation as well as experience in curriculum development related to nutrition and dietetics.
  3. Evidence of contemporary clinical experience as an APD including knowledge of Australian healthcare and professional practice standards and capacity to lead clinical supervision/placement models.
  4. High-quality research track record demonstrated through quality publications, success in securing competitive/external/industry funding or successful HDR supervisions.
  5. Demonstrated ability to establish and lead partnerships with health services, community or industry that enhance placements, research translation and/or graduate outcomes.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
