About You

The position provides strategic leadership and guidance in information security and cybersecurity across the organisation, identifying relevant standards, best practices, and tools and delivering solutions to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our digital assets and information. In addition to security excellence, the position requires demonstrated success in team leadership, project management and customer orientation. 

Duties 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Assist in developing the strategic direction of the organisation  
• Lead and define the long-term vision for QCIF’s Information Security and Cybersecurity 
• Act as an information security and cybersecurity subject-matter expert for the organisation, informing our input to collaborators and partners 
• Provide technical expertise in the design and delivery of information security and cybersecurity solutions 
• Provide considered and well-informed information security and cybersecurity leadership, advice, and guidance across the organisation.

• Conduct security risk assessments and develop and implement remediation plans to address identified risks. 
• Lead the development of monitoring, threat detection, and alerting capabilities across the organisation's environments. 
• Collaborate with product and technology teams to embed security-by-design in the software development lifecycle. 
• Develop project evaluations and proposals with collaborators and partners 
• Interface with collaborators and partners to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction 
• Effectively communicate progress and outcomes to collaborators and clients  
• Manage teams and projects to ensure delivery of quality outcomes on time and within budget 
• Participate in tender and grant application process including design, submission and review  
• Identify new and emerging digital technologies to ensure QCIF stays at the forefront

Required Experience       

Qualifications 

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 
• Minimum 8 years of experience in IT operations and/or information/cybersecurity. 
• At least 3 years of experience applying cyber and information security know-how in higher education/research. 

Knowledge and Skills 

• Expert knowledge of information security standards and their application. 
• Proven experience in leading information security and cybersecurity initiatives. 
• Strong understanding of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001). 
• Experience with security technologies and tools. 
• Fundamental knowledge in digital and IT technologies 
• Fundamental knowledge of project management methodologies

The Centre Manager will sit on the Centre’s Executive Committee and work closely with the Director and Deputy Director to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the Centre’s vision and objectives. The Centre Manager will be responsible for leading and managing operational functions, providing administrative support, and assisting with project delivery. The Centre Manager will also oversee the Centre’s budget, including operating and discretionary funds. As a senior administrative lead, this position involves working with relevant Schools and Faculties, the Office of Research Services, the Division of Resources, HR, and other university departments as needed to ensure smooth operation of the Centre. The position will also be responsible for stakeholder engagement, management and communications, including, but not limited to, supporting outreach and training activities; organising steering committees, industry and scientific advisory committees; developing a communication plan and media releases. The position will also participate in cross-functional project teams.

6. Demonstrated experience in contract management, financial management and reporting, and identifying funding opportunities. Experience in managing complex research projects with multiple partners or proven ability to support researchers in developing competitive proposals is advantageous.
7. High-level ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines without compromising quality. Experience adapting to dynamic circumstances and maintaining productivity in fast-paced research and operational environments.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Anatomical and Surgical Skills Laboratory Manager to join Research Infrastructure, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.

We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic new Manager of the Anatomical and Surgical Skills Laboratory (ASSL) to join the Medical Engineering Research Facility of the Queensland University of Technology. The ASSL Manager provides leadership to impact on many people’s lives through the hosting of: - practical bioskills workshops for industry clients, medical societies and hospital groups, - anatomy education, and - research and development. We are looking for a person who can maintain, strengthen and develop new client relationships to ensure the continued growth and success of the laboratory in each of these areas. The successful candidate demonstrates exceptional professional integrity, has strong team management skills and comprehensive knowledge of compliance obligations. They will lead by example, fostering client focus and professional standards within the team. About us

The Medical Engineering Research Facility (MERF) at The Prince Charles Hospital is one of the distributed sites of QUT's Research Infrastructure unit. The facility provides a comprehensive suite of facilities with unique capabilities to support researchers in taking novel concepts from basic research to clinical implementation. MERF’s Anatomical Surgical Skills Laboratory (ASSL) provides a realistic environment for academic research, anatomy teaching and/or practical skills training of new and existing surgical medical procedures or implants for health professionals, resulting in better quality of care for patients.

What you need to succeed

1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in managing the financial, physical and human resources of an anatomy, healthcare or surgical skills training facility, or of another facility in a related field with comparable compliance requirements and complexity.
2. Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Queensland Transplantation & Anatomy Act 1979 and associated regulations, including reporting and record keeping obligations.
3. Demonstrated ability to build and lead high?performing teams, uphold strong client service and ethical standards, foster a positive team culture, manage performance through feedback, allocate workloads effectively, and identify development needs to deliver quality business outcomes.
4. Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to coordinate a diverse range of complex activities using limited resources, with a focus on the client’s needs while maintaining the highest level of compliance and respect.
5. Well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate, consult and negotiate to establish and maintain long-lasting business relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation.
6. Demonstrated high level written skills, including the ability to write correspondence, reports and policy documents in a clear concise manner.
7. Proven digital literacy skills with effective use of information technology (Microsoft Teams/Sharepoint) and other corporate systems.

As the Project Accountant, you will play a key role in the financial performance of the Physical Infrastructure Program (Physical Program). This includes tracking forecasts against actuals, managing project spending, identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement, and providing detailed financial insights. You will work closely with the business operations team, portfolio management office, project managers, the Finance Business Solutions teams, and other key stakeholders to ensure financial integrity and compliance.

The primary role is to ensure that project budgets are adhered to, monitor financial performance, and provide accurate and timely financial information to project managers and other stakeholders. The role delivers sound financial analysis and provides support and advice to leaders to inform periodic financial planning, budgeting, costing, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting. The role’s involvement with CapEx and OpEx management is essential to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective financial control of projects.

 Managing project finances, enabling project managers to make informed decisions and ensuring the Physical Program maintains financial control is an essential part of this role. As a member of the finance team, you will also be required to address complex financial challenges, enhance team performance, and build capabilities aligned with client needs and service delivery goals. This position also partners with the Capital Works and Major Projects team to manage physical infrastructure project budgets and forecast to ensure budgetary practices remain responsive to changing and environmental factors.
