As an Outage Management Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of shaping a sustainable energy future. In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate closely with Operations Outage Engineers to deliver a seamless schedule of reservations with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at QUT has an exciting position for a Lecturer (Level B) /Senior Lecturer (Level C) in water and environmental engineering who is able to provide leadership in both research and teaching within the discipline of Water Engineering and specifically waste water treatment. Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Gut Microbiome Specialist and Microbial Ecologist to join School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Health.

The successful applicant will be creating a thorough mechanistic understanding on the microbiological, biochemical and genetic processes that cause methanogenesis in the cow rumen. These activities will identify core beneficial microbiota that are critical to cow performance and methane production across different breeds of animals, diets and management practices, which is essential to accelerate development of microbiome-based interventions that benefit animal production and reduce its carbon footprint. Focal research areas will include generating and analysing complex microbiome “omic” datasets to create an inventory of microbial genomes and lists of expressed metabolic features that are signature for the keystone microorganisms that drive rumen function. It is expected that this will formulate a dedicated “wish-list” of microbial targets that will guide cultivation work that uses CMR’s world leading high-throughput cultivation platform. To further characterise core microbiota, they will design and implement synthetic consortia to focus on core metabolic features that drive rumen digestion and methane formation.

The Centre for Microbiome Research was established in 2020 by Professor Gene Tyson, an expert in the field of microbial ecology. Professor Tyson and his team are actively involved in the development of innovative culture-independent molecular approaches and bioinformatic tools, and their application to answer important questions about microbial communities across a range of ecosystems. The team is made up of researchers with diverse expertise within microbial ecology and genomics, providing an intellectually robust and collaborative environment. The Centre is located within the Translational Research Institute (TRI) - a unique multidisciplinary facility located at the Princess Alexandra hospital with a strong focus on translational research. This positions the team amongst top researchers and clinicians from diverse disciplines such as genomics, bioinformatics, immunology, oncology and gastroenterology, and provides the team with access to state-of-the-art core facilities. The Centre also has a dedicated PC2-certified laboratory fully equipped for molecular biology that includes an in-house white light laser confocal microscope (Leica), a PromethION (Oxford Nanopore Technologies) and access to a NovaSeq 6000 (Illumina). The Centre has a BD FACSAria Fusion fluorescence activated cell sorter with small particle detection, a Cytek Aurora Spectral Flow Cytometry and liquid handling robots for single cell genomic and culturing work, and maintains custom built anaerobic culture and quarantine facilities. CMR houses its own high-performance computing resources consisting of >1,000 cores and 9 nodes. The operation of these facilities is supported by professional staff for microscopy, flow cytometry, sequencing and bioinformatics..

What you need to succeed

1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a PhD in a relevant field (microbiology, bioinformatics). 
2. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of isolation and maintenance of anaerobic microorganisms and anaerobic culture and/or the operation of anaerobic bioreactors.
3. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in molecular characterisation of complex gut microbiome samples using multi-layered omic data (e.g. metagenomics and metatransctripomics) and knowledge of bioinformatic processing and analysis of large meta/multi-omics datasets.
4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, along with proven ability to autonomously organise and prioritise tasks and workflow to meet project deadlines.
5. High level communication skills, including demonstrated written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

The opportunity

The bdna Products team of business analysts, software developers, engineers, testers and forensic subject matter experts work closely with law enforcement and forensic laboratories to improve forensic service delivery through specialist products.

This role requires exceptional problem-solving skills, including finding innovative and efficient solutions to complex issues and the ability to resolve complex technical issues with efficiency and precision.

You will be working as part of a diverse team of talented professionals and subject matter experts and be partnering with some of the most pioneering software firms in the country.

What’ll you do

• Support of bdna commercial software
• Provide technical support, maintenance and upgrades to all existing and future bdna customers
• Foster positive relationships through the use of excellent customer service skills
• Practice excellent incident management problem solving with a view of providing innovative and timely solutions to customer challenges
• Support production environments including troubleshooting infrastructure issues, identifying and classifying bugs and data engineering tasks to facilitate investigation and reporting
• Document your work and decisions within service management tools (including ServiceNow)
• Work within bdna’s Continuous Integration (CI) environment and tooling
• Work closely and productively with other bdna developers, UX designers, business and systems analysts
• Work within a team and participate in a roster to provide after hours on-call support 
• Represent bdna on customer sites as and when required
• Prioritise work to ensure customer SLAs are met
• Work with limited supervision 
• Have an awareness and understanding of other cultures, beliefs and diversities of our clients and team
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the great culture of bdna

What you’ve got

• An exceptional understanding of SQL (minimum 3 years), including advanced querying techniques, optimisation strategies and database management 
• Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Microsoft Azure and the ability to troubleshoot issues in that platform
• Exceptional technical skills and expertise across a wide range of technologies and platforms
• Excellent skills in diagnosing, analysing and resolving cloud application and database issues
• Exceptional problem solving skills, including finding innovative and efficient solutions to complex issues 
• A high level of analytical thinking and a proactive approach to problem solving
• Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical clients
• Ability to manage tasks effectively while dealing with multiple customer needs
• Ability to understand code or a background in software engineering will be highly regarded

Qualifications/Certifications

• A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or equivalent experience
• Microsoft Certified Azure Data Fundamentals 
• ITIL Foundation certification 
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Experience working with public sector organisations, particularly public safety is highly desirable.

Reporting directly into the Service and Delivery Director, you will be working as part of a diverse team of talented professionals and subject matter experts and be partnering with some of the most pioneering software firms in the country.

You will oversee the end-to-end BAU service delivery process, ensuring that our clients receive exceptional service and support. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, developers and customer support representatives, to streamline operations and optimise service delivery workflows.

What you'll do

• Establish, lead, track and report on a portfolio of customer service accounts
• Manage SLAs, Incidents and Reporting
• Develop, manage, administer and improve the (incident) service management process, in line with industry best practices
• Support the Service and Delivery Director in achieving SLAs, leveraging available team members, processes and tools
• Support the Service and Delivery Director to drive "Customer Success” including regular meetings with customers
• This position will present monthly customer meetings on the SLAs and any roadmap updates. This is BAU/Relationship management only – new business would be referred to the CCO.
• This position will assist in the presentation of a Quarterly Business Review for each customer on alignment with contractual requirements and service performance.
• Create and maintain required documentation (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures)
• Daily/Constant Customer incident Management including immediate escalations of High Priority incidents
• Collaborate with all of bdna and allocated clients 
• Be knowledgeable of current and future methods, examples and trends
• Work within bdna and client teams and on occasions work with limited supervision and or structure
• Awareness and understanding of other cultures, beliefs and diversities of our clients and team

What you've got

• Proven experience in IT service delivery management or a similar role
• Experience in managing IT teams
• Familiarity with service level agreements and performance metrics
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and services
• Proficiency in service management tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Cherwell)
• Knowledge of cloud services, networking, and cybersecurity
• Ability to analyse data and generate reports on service performance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• Must have: ITIL4 Foundations certification

We are seeking a Senior Consultant, Business Systems Analyst to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The purpose of this position is to partner with the business teams to ensure that business processes, system configurations and solution designs are aligned to SAMS to achieve maximum efficiency/value for an enhanced student experience. The Senior Consultant, Business Systems Analyst works to successfully balance the core IT Service Management practice as well as contribute and lead transformation/enhancement of QUT’s student experience by leveraging the SAMS enterprise system. Each Senior Consultant, Business Systems Analyst works across a portfolio of business teams supporting the student lifecycle and is responsible for prioritising workloads across multiple teams and competing priorities. The Senior Consultant, Business Systems Analysts work as a team given that many end-to-end processes also span multiple portfolios.

1.    Education, training, and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience.

2.    Demonstrated experience and success in the role of a business analyst, leveraging a large corporate information system to identify and deliver significant and measurable value to the business.

3.    Ability to demonstrate a strength in both contemporary technical analysis and business analysis, including the ability to understand or learn:

o   relational databases and database query tools, e.g. SQL; business process management techniques and mapping including data analysis;

o   integrating data to and from the student management system, interpreting relevant business rules with the ability to learn related integration testing methods and tools, e.g. REST or API driven web services and event driven integration;

o    problem solving, root cause analysis and resolving incidents.

4.    Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders to determine and design a roadmap aligned to a target future state for

the business.

5.    Proven success in contributing to or leading projects (with a focus on process enhancement leveraging technology solutions).

6.    High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to consult and liaise with staff and stakeholders at relevant levels, and to produce high quality reports (including current and future state process documentation, project plans etc).
