The opportunity:
As the Secondary Systems Testing Specialist, you will provide specialist testing services and technical support for the state-wide maintenance and support of substations' secondary systems. This role involves reviewing and developing Secondary System Procedures, Work Instructions, and providing guidance and training to the MSP Field Teams as required.
Specifically, you will:
- Provide competent and cost-effective technical support to field teams and customers in various groups and divisions.
- Develop and implement robust systems to ensure all secondary systems equipment is appropriately tested and verified.
- Review and develop testing standards and technical strategies for secondary system equipment.
- Perform detailed technical investigations and reporting on issues related to secondary system equipment.
- Provide expert technical advice on new work methods and practices for secondary system equipment.
- Ensure continuous improvement by reviewing work methods and processes.
- Develop and deliver training for field personnel on secondary system equipment testing.
The people you'll join:
Located in Brisbane, you will be a key member of the Operational Engineering division, directly reporting to the Team Leader Specialist Systems.
What you'll bring:
- Degree level qualification in Engineering (Electrical) with experience in testing and commissioning of secondary systems, and training development and delivery, or lower-level qualification with significant experience.
- Queensland Electrical Fitter Licence and a Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence.
- TAESS00015 - Enterprise Trainer and Assessor Skill set.
You will bring in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in secondary systems automation and relay testing, along with a strong background in testing IEC61850 systems. Proficiency in the use and application of Doble Test Equipment and software is essential.
Your expertise will include managing and producing secondary systems relay test plans, developing and delivering secondary systems relay testing training, and other related training activities. You will possess specialist knowledge of Secondary Systems Testing methods, methodologies, and fault-finding practices.
You will excel in working with limited supervision and broad direction, taking initiative to achieve goals and improve processes. You will be adept at reviewing existing and developing new maintenance tasks in secondary systems testing, as well as preparing detailed Technical Reports and Work Procedures.
While not mandatory, having demonstrated knowledge of substation secondary system design would be highly desirable.
