Principal Engineer, Platform
- Reference number: 26056
- Term: Ongoing, full-time basis
- Remuneration: $161,241 to $168,919 pa (HEW9) (inclusive of $136,251 to $142,738 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
- Location: Kelvin Grove (hybrid option available)

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Platform to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.
The Principal Engineer, Platform is responsible for the design, build and management of componentised architecture for QUT core systems and platforms. This role will play a key role in the technology shift from monolithic and manually configured applications, to managed, secure, scalable, pipelined platforms. This role will work closely alongside portfolio, cloud engineering and security teams to automate infrastructure processes and assist in developing managed application environments that enable functional portfolio teams to focus on features, instead of the development of foundational services. The Principal Engineer, Platform will also develop the scaffolding services outlined in the architectural vision for DBS. The outcome of this is increased developer / portfolio productivity and enabling the adoption of standard architectural practices across teams. This position reports to the Manager Integration and Platform Services for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualification together with extensive relevant experience within Platform Engineering or Systems
- Proven success in contributing as a technical expert as part of a team, and implementing improvement strategies that support effective response to client needs, and achievement of organisation goals.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain productive and collaborative working relationships, including the ability to develop and present concepts and negotiate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proven experience in Infrastructure as a code – ideally Terraform, Google Deployment Manager, AWS
- Proven experience with systems administration, networking concepts, enterprise monitoring solutions and preferably enterprise containerisation solutions such as Kubernetes or Docker.
- Demonstrated ability in cultivating an engineering culture of automation, self- service, and best practice, that enables application and development teams to efficiently transition from development to
- Demonstrated supervision, leadership and team coordination skills.
