Job Description

At Powerlink, every possibility starts with you

We believe life’s about possibilities. And so is the future. That’s why we need you.

We’re working at the heart of Queensland's energy industry to maintain a safe, reliable and cost-effective transmission network.

Internship possibilities start with us.

Spend your summer building something that lasts - for your future and Queensland’s.

We love solving complex problems at Powerlink, so our Vacation Program gives you the opportunity to do just that.

Over 13-weeks, you'll learn about our industry and business, and get stuck into interesting, cutting-edge projects that aren't being delivered anywhere else in Queensland, while enjoying all the benefits of a Powerlink career.

Through every solution found and lesson learned, you'll gain new skills and knowledge that will set you apart from your peers. That means powerful opportunities for your career.

How many other undergrads can say they helped deliver electricity to more than four million Queenslanders?

Ask us about:

  • Flexible & hybrid working options
  • Career development
  • Cultural leave for ceremonial or sorry business
  • Inclusive workplace facilities
  • Health & wellbeing programs
  • Free secure parking, with access to onsite charging stations for electric vehicles

The opportunities:

Major Projects Office

Are you ready to jump-start your career and make a real impact? As an intern, you’ll become an essential part of our team, working side-by-side with industry professionals on major projects that make a difference for Queenslanders. Guided by our Manager of Business Improvement and supported by a collaborative team, you’ll have the chance to lead your own project, develop hands-on skills, and build a strong foundation for your future career—all while contributing to exciting, high-profile initiatives at Powerlink. This is your opportunity to learn, grow, and leave your mark!

Open to undergraduate students studying Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Data Science or Bachelor of Information Technology.

Enterprise Data & Analytics Office

As an intern in the Enterprise Data and Analytics Office you’ll be part of a passionate and forward-thinking team dedicated to transforming how we use data across the organisation. Here, you’ll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, collaborate on real projects, and play an active role in shaping the organisation’s data-driven future. If you’re eager to blend theory with practical skills and help lead the way in responsible analytics, this is the internship for you.

Open to undergraduate students studying Bachelor of Data Science, Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Mathematics (Statistics)

Energy Markets & Planning: Network Strategy Team

Join our Network Strategy Team as an intern and become part of a group that is driving innovation in the state’s transmission network. As an intern, you’ll dive into analysing industry trends, uncover emerging risks and opportunities, and help create smart tools to steer the network’s strategic direction. This placement is your chance to apply your analytical skills to real-world challenges, all while supporting the transition to cleaner, smarter energy solutions. If you have programming experience (especially in Python and Excel) and a strong background in mathematics, you’ll be right at home here. Get ready to learn, grow, and help shape the future of energy.

Open to undergraduate students studying Bachelor of Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Computer Science or Software Engineering

Works Delivery

Are you ready to dive into the dynamic world of data? Join our Work Delivery team as an intern and get hands-on experience with data gathering, visualisation, and the creation of dynamic dashboards. You'll also develop your skills by working on legacy Excel spreadsheets, transforming them into modern, interactive tools for real-world applications. This placement is perfect for students eager to combine analytical thinking with creative problem-solving in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Open to undergraduate students studying Bachelor of Information Technology.
