About us
aXcelerate is a leading Australian SaaS provider, with our Student and Learning Management System supporting millions of learners’ course and competency records nationwide. We partner with training providers and employers to make learning simpler, more inclusive, and more effective.
Recognised as a Great Place to Work for three years running, we’ve built a culture where people feel respected, supported, and encouraged to grow. As we continue our growth journey, we’re investing in both our technology and our people — creating space for diverse perspectives, thoughtful collaboration, and meaningful career development.
We know that innovation happens when people feel they belong, and we’re committed to building teams that reflect the communities we serve.
The role
As a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack), you’ll play an important role in designing, building, and improving the systems that power the aXcelerate platform. This is a hands-on role with real influence — balancing front-end and back-end development while working closely with engineers, product managers, and designers.
You’ll contribute across the full software lifecycle, from shaping solutions and improving architecture to supporting quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability. Just as importantly, you’ll be part of a team that values curiosity, shared problem-solving, and learning from one another.
You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply. If this role interests you and you bring many of the skills below, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing
- 🌱 Designing and building full-stack features end-to-end, spanning frontend, backend, and APIs
- 💻 Developing modern, accessible user interfaces using React and TypeScript
- 🛠️ Building and evolving backend services, APIs, and serverless functions
- 🤝 Working collaboratively with your team to plan, review, test, and improve code
- 🧭 Contributing to thoughtful technical decisions that balance delivery, quality, and sustainability
- 🔍 Exploring improvements in performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency
- 📚 Supporting and mentoring other developers in a constructive, inclusive way
- 🌐 Partnering with product and design to translate user needs into practical solutions
What you’ll bring
- Experience working as a full-stack engineer, contributing across frontend and backend
- Strong experience with React and TypeScript
- Around 5+ years’ experience in software development (we value depth and growth over rigid timelines)
- Experience building and consuming APIs
- Comfort working with Git and modern development workflows
- A collaborative approach, with a willingness to ask questions, share knowledge, and learn from others
- Experience supporting customer-facing systems with care and accountability
Nice to have (not essential):
- Experience with Node.js, serverless architectures, or containerisation
- Familiarity with AWS or cloud-based platforms
- Exposure to architectural or system-level design work
What we offer
- Remote or Hybrid working: 2–3 days office / WFH
- Open to candidates anywhere in Australia with full working rights
- Centrally located office close to public transport, cafes, and shops, with free on-site parking
- A supportive, people-first culture that values flexibility and wellbeing
- Strong focus on learning and development, including:
- Access to our LMS
- Internal and external training opportunities
- A dedicated annual professional development budget
- Employee Assistance Program for you and your family
- Cashback offers and discounts through Employment Hero
- Gym discounts and reduced-price Pilates classes
- Clear, well-defined career pathways and promotion frameworks
- Proud members of Women in Technology, with access to networking events, mentoring, and professional development resources
How to apply
Please submit an up-to-date resume outlining your experience and interest in the role.
If you have one, you’re welcome to include a portfolio (e.g. GitHub or personal website).
