The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Mobile Apps team to deliver high quality and secure software. As part of an agile team, this role will be primarily responsible for all facets of the aXcelerate mobile apps and in addition, but not limited to, projects of the LMS module.

Our Brisbane-based office offers hybrid work options however we welcome applications from remote candidates within Australia.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and design robust, maintain, scalable applications, ensuring optimal performance and a seamless user experience.
• Modifying software to fix errors, upgrade interfaces and improve system performance
• Develop and/or maintain solution documentation including data and component models
• Ensure / maintain consistent functionality and user experience (feature parity) across different platforms (Android / iOS / Web)
• Write clean, well-documented code which adheres to aXcelerate development standards
• Perform/Request code reviews to maintain code quality across the team
• Utilise version control system (Git) to manage codebase changes and collaborate effectively with other developers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to technical discussions and decision-making
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement new features
• Document and record estimated time and effort time required for project tasks and manage related work via JIRA tickets
• Stay up-to-date with best practices / trends / emerging technologies to contribute to the team’s technical growth

About You

• 5+ years of experience in software development with the main focus on mobile app development
• Strong experience with HTML / CSS / JavaScript / TypeScript
• Strong experience with React or React Native is essential
• Experience with working with RESTFul APIs and handling asynchronous operations
• Experience with version control tools such as GIT
• Passionate about all things software and development
• Adaptability/Flexibility - Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving development practices
• Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks accordingly
• Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

The role:

As a Software Engineer you would hit the ground running and be part of our dynamic engineering team who fuel the aXcelerate system. Your core focus will be on developing high-quality and secure software. Collaborating effectively with an agile team, you'll be working with other juniors, seniors and team leads. At aXcelerate you will have the opportunity to shape the technology and systems that underpin our product.

Responsibilities

• Drive complex projects across teams from technical design to launch.
• Foster a collaborative and best-practice culture, promoting code reviews, unit testing, automated testing, operational excellence and knowledge sharing within your engineering team.
• Ensure you and your team are balancing technical debt and product development activities and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, prototyping and implementing innovative solutions with a focus on reliability, security, performance, and cost.
• Build quality relationships to influence and motivate others within engineering, product and design teams.
• Use critical thinking, suggest solutions based on industry best practices to tackle complex architecture challenges.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers, fostering their professional growth and sharing knowledge within the team.

About you

• 3 -5 years experience developing full-stack demonstrating proficiency in various technologies.
• Demonstrated commercial experience with frontend development frameworks React OR React Native and TypeScript.
• Demonstrated commercial experience with crafting backend services, APIs and serverless functions utilizing frameworks such as Node.js OR Java, Spring Boot, ColdFusion.
• Highly proficient with Git.
• Experience in preventing, identifying, resolving, customer facing issues in a timely manner.
• A proactive approach to learning new technologies, coupled with a genuine curiosity to stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in software development and technologies.
• Experience with containerisation and serverless technologies in AWS (desirable).
