We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Operations to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The Senior Engineer, Operations is a member of the Corporate Systems team who takes responsibility for maintaining and improving a complex landscape of business-critical solutions, providing operational support to our customers and helping to implement QUT's Digital Strategy which includes a multi-year project to implement a new Enterprise Resource Planning system. This role will work in partnership with team members, clients and other IT professionals, with a focus on maintaining a range of solutions related to the Corporate Applications environment, encompassing Finance and HR Systems. What is the role?

The Technology Operations & Chief Information Officer Command (TOCIO) is seeking passionate, and suitably skilled and experienced Cyber Security Analysts to join our unified Security and Network Operations Centre (SNOC) in Cyber Defence with a strong team culture, where collaboration, trust, and shared accountability underpin how we operate. What will you do?

• Support and mentor junior staff to build operational capability and confidence.

What is the role?

The Technology Operations & Chief Information Officer Command is a trusted frontline partner that enables policing through problem solving and technical expertise and excellence. The CIO Command provides corporate application, ICT end-to-end solutions, advice, cyber security and infrastructure that underpin AFP activities. The CIO Command aims to be a highly collaborative, innovative, reliable and trusted enabler across the AFP.

Within the Command, the Cloud and Infrastructure Operations Section have a vacancy for Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Band 8, residing in the Infrastructure Operations Team. The team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the AFP’s national and international compute and storage server infrastructure in support of the organisation’s corporate and operational requirements. This role is responsible for installing and configuring hardware, managing firmware, and overseeing server endpoints as well as developing solutions for large an small scale projects.

Successful applicants will provide support for the complex and critical nature of tasks involved to ensure the infrastructure is robust, secure, and capable of supporting the agency's operations. The applicant will also be required to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisation’s reputation to effectively manage operations.

What will you do?

• Administering, monitoring, optimisation and problem resolution related to ESXi, Microsoft Server OS, Dell and Riverbed hardware and administrative environments such as Dell’s Open Manage Enterprise (OME) and Riverbed’s Steel Fusion Core interfaces.

• Operational support tasks such as asset control, physical installation and decommissioning of server hardware and working with power and networking infrastructure within the AFP’s data centres and regional sites.

What you need to succeed

1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology with extensive relevant experience.
2. Proven experience in developing and leading a service management strategy and function in a complex environment.
3. Advanced knowledge and understanding of ITIL practices and standards.
4. Demonstrated experience managing ITSM tools and platforms.
5. Proven exceptional leadership, management and mentoring skills to effectively lead a team to introduce and implement service management principles and standards across a large organisation.
6. Demonstrated ability to maintain productive and collaborative working relationships, including the ability to develop and present concepts and negotiate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
7. Excellent communication skills including the ability to collaborate with and guide managers, technical, and non-technical stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Student Systems to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The Senior Engineer, Student Systems is a member of the Student and Stakeholder Engagement team who takes responsibility for maintaining and improving a complex landscape of student administration solutions, provide operational support to our customers and help implement QUT's digital transformation strategy. The Senior Engineer will be pivotal in contributing to configuration design practices and standards which ensures a sustainable platform. This will include, but not be limited to, standardised process design patterns, authentication and user profile designs, release and deployment management practices, documentation standards and testing and change processes. This role will work in partnership with team members, clients, vendors, and other IT professionals and has the focus on maintaining a range of solutions related to the Student and Stakeholder Engagement environment, encompassing Customer Relationship and Student Management Systems. The work undertaken by this team is critical to driving business efficiencies and it require the person selected for the role to be contactable and/or work occasionally outside standard business hours.

2. Demonstrated experience in administrating, supporting and maintaining corporate systems and technologies.

3. Demonstrated experience in database query language (SQL), low-code application development, Crystal Reports, XML, and knowledge of VB.NET scripting or the ability and willingness to adapt to these and new technology skills.

4. Proven IT service/operations management expertise including but not limited to the following components:

• Change Control and Release Management

• Testing Management

• Change Management

• Service, Incident and Problem Management

5. Analytical skills including the ability to undertake advanced troubleshooting to identify, diagnose, and resolve problems or to propose solutions to complex problems while exercising professional judgement to achieve excellence in client service.

6. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and time management skills, including conflict management and negotiation skills, and a proven approach in building successful collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders that support achievement of outcomes in a high-level interdependency working environment.
