About This Opportunity 

As a Senior Principal Business Process Analyst, support the implementation of research management systems and processes by working closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to analyse, design and optimise business processes to support research data governance. Operating within a collaborative and purpose driven environment, you will play a key role in ensuring research data management and compliance requirements are embedded into research systems and researcher practices, enabling consistent and effective delivery across the University.

Key responsibilities will include: 

• Collaborate with stakeholders and process owners to assess impacts of new research systems and compliance requirements on business processes.
• Analyse current and future state processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the development of effective solutions.
• Lead operational readiness activities, ensuring processes and areas are prepared for system implementation and change.
• Develop and standardise operating procedures, ensuring alignment with research data practices and compliance requirements.

• Postgraduate qualifications or an equivalent combination of extensive experience and education.

What is the role?

The Technology Operations & Chief Information Officer Command is a trusted frontline partner that enables policing through problem solving and technical expertise and excellence. The Command provides corporate application, ICT end to end solutions, advice, cyber security and infrastructure that underpin AFP activities. The Command aims to be a highly collaborative, innovative, reliable and trusted enabler across the AFP.

Within the Command the Enterprise Technology and Architecture branch currently has vacancies for multiple highly skilled technical experts residing in the Cloud and Infrastructure Operations Section. This section provide the delivery and support of cloud capabilities that directly foster collaboration across the organisation, delivering cloud-based solutions for operational and business outcomes. This includes supporting and administering virtualisation technologies across the organisation’s hybrid cloud environment. The section is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the AFP’s sever and application infrastructure.

Technical Specialist Level 2(TS2) Cloud Engineer

• This position is responsible for designing and developing the architecture and blueprint of software applications optimized for cloud-native operations, with a strong emphasis on usability, supportability, and data security. This position is also responsible for providing advanced technical expertise across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Technical Specialist Level 3 (TS3) Technical Lead – Cloud Application Engineering 

• The Cloud Engineer, Enterprise Systems and Middleware will provide support with the design and management of the cloud applications and platforms including managing migrations and refactoring applications. The role is responsible for in delivering advanced technical skills in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Technical Specialist Level 3 (TS3) Technical Lead – Cloud Platform Engineering 

• This position provides subject matter expertise in the research, development, implementation, and on-going management of the AFP’s Cloud Platforms. You will provide technical support in a hybrid environment across on-premises and cloud deployments including design, administration and troubleshoot of Public cloud platforms to assist with improving the platform adoption using Infrastructure-as-Code.

You will play a key role in ensuring the enterprise network remains secure, adaptable, and aligned with both strategic and operational needs. These roles are expected to operate with limited supervision, demonstrate sound decision-making, and adapt to emerging priorities. You’ll also contribute to a positive team culture by modelling professionalism, encouraging collaboration, and supporting team capability development.

Technical specialists provide expert consultancy within their areas of specialisation. They develop and promote technical solutions which support the business requirements of the AFP, within areas of expertise. You will also ensure the achievement of outcomes are in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.

What will you do?

Successful candidates will play a senior role in defining and implementing robust, future-ready network solutions. You will work proactively with internal stakeholders, project teams, and cyber security experts to ensure the enterprise network supports business priorities while complying with technical and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities include:

Network Infrastructure:

• Provides escalation for routing and switching. Manages backbone resilience and advanced protocols.

Wireless (WLAN)

• Provides escalation for complex wireless issues. Manages advanced design, roaming, high-density coverage and secure mobility integration.

Cloud and Hybrid Networking:

• Provides advanced support for cloud and data centre networking. Resolves escalated hybrid connectivity and segmentation issues.

Essential Requirements

• You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
• Masters degree or direct relevant experience specialist skills and demonstrated proficiency in specialisation or 8 years’ experience within the field of expertise.
• Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
• Proven experience in implementing and managing complex enterprise network architectures.
• Advanced technical knowledge of routing, switching, and firewall technologies (e.g. Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba).
• Demonstrated sound judgement and decision-making in high-impact technical environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

• Relevant tertiary qualification or certifications (e.g. CCNP/CCIE, Azure/AWS networking).

• Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and security frameworks (e.g. ISM, PSPF, ISO 27001).

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Student Systems to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The Senior Engineer, Student Systems is a member of the Student and Stakeholder Engagement team who takes responsibility for maintaining and improving a complex landscape of student administration solutions, provide operational support to our customers and help implement QUT's digital transformation strategy. The Senior Engineer will be pivotal in contributing to configuration design practices and standards which ensures a sustainable platform. This will include, but not be limited to, standardised process design patterns, authentication and user profile designs, release and deployment management practices, documentation standards and testing and change processes. This role will work in partnership with team members, clients, vendors, and other IT professionals and has the focus on maintaining a range of solutions related to the Student and Stakeholder Engagement environment, encompassing Customer Relationship and Student Management Systems.
