The Associate Director, Research Management Systems has oversight of the development of research management systems that underpin research and research training. They contribute to the strategic leadership and specialist advice to the senior leadership within the DVCRI portfolio. They ensure the provision of researcher-centric research management systems which align with and amplify UQ’s investment in Research IT Services.  

The Associate Director, Research Management Systems will lead the operational oversight and business plans associated with the identification, development, maintenance, and access to critical research management systems at UQ. They will lead a high performing team to implement the strategic and operational imperatives of the DVCRI portfolio in relation to Research IT Services, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across UQ, including ITS, Library and the DVCRI portfolio, to ensure high quality and integrated research management systems.

About You 

• Relevant Research Higher Degree and/or post-graduate information technology and/or business administration qualification or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience within a tertiary education or research and innovation environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of the research environment, information technology, research and research training within a higher education context.
• Extensive high-level project management experience with a demonstrated ability to plan, oversee and build successful, integrated researcher-centric research management systems.
• Significant experience in relevant leadership roles, including leading and managing teams, professional development of staff, and change management as it relates to the implementation of new Research IT systems.
• Extensive experience leading solutions involving technical enterprise applications in large organisations, as well as proven vendor relationship management skills.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain internal and external networks and relationships.

• Remuneration: AUD$96,342 to AUD$130,727 pa (LEVA) OR AUD$137,608 to AUD$163,427 pa (LEVB); (inclusive AUD$81,410 to AUD$110,466 (LEVA) salary p.a. OR AUD $116,280 to AUD$138,097 (LEVB) salary p.a.; 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join School of Computer Science, Faculty of Science.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will join a collaborative team of researchers for the Australian Research Council Discovery Project 'Supporting independent living with "seeing" technologies'. The project will engage people with cognitive disabilities in the design of the next generation of home assistive technology, leveraging a step change in artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will ideally have research expertise in Human-Computer Interaction, with participatory design and in the disability sector. A technical background in Computing or Robotics is strongly recommended. The position-holder will conduct innovative qualitative research, including coordinating the project's fieldwork and will contribute to the supervision of students.

What you need to succeed

Level A  

Completion or near completion of a doctoral qualification in human computer interactions, computer science, robotics or related fields. 

1. Demonstrated ability of publishing qualitative research in leading journals and conferences.  
2. Demonstrated experience in collaborating with people with a disability in participatory design or co-design settings. 
3. Demonstrated ability to build interactive prototypes that embed AI-features (voice, text or image processing).  
4. Demonstrated ability to innovate and work independently. 
5. Developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work collegially and cooperatively in a team environment. 

Level B 

Completion of a doctoral qualification in human computer interactions, computer science, robotics or related fields. 

1. Proven track record of publishing qualitative research in leading journals and conferences.  
2. Demonstrated experience in managing collaborative research projects with people with a disability in participatory design or co-design settings. 
3. Demonstrated ability to build interactive prototypes that embed AI-features (voice, text or image processing).  
4. Proven ability to innovate, work independently and supervise at graduate and postgraduate levels. 
5. Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work collegially and cooperatively in a team environment.
