Shell Energy is seeking a highly experienced Head of Data & Analytics in either Brisbane or Melbourne to drive transformation, lead innovation, and elevate the maturity of data capabilities across the business.

In this influential role, you’ll:

• Own and execute the enterprise-wide data strategy, delivering trusted, secure, and timely data products.
• Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making, embedding analytics and agentic AI workflows at the heart of how we operate.
• Engage directly with Executives and senior leaders, providing critical insights and guiding high-impact decisions.
• Lead a skilled team in delivering end-to-end data platform transformation, including the migration from Snowflake to Databricks.
• Drive data governance, platform adoption, and enterprise-wide literacy uplift.
• Influence senior stakeholders through complex change with credibility and confidence.
• Advance the maturity of our data architecture and analytics capabilities with measurable business impact.

What you’ll bring

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

• Data & Analytics Maturity: Proven experience lifting enterprise data maturity, with a focus on building secure, well-governed, and scalable analytics capabilities that enable data-driven decision-making across the business.
• Strategic Delivery & Innovation: Demonstrated success leading complex data platform transformations (e.g., Snowflake to Databricks), with deep knowledge of modern tech stacks, data methodologies, project delivery frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall), and emerging technologies.
• Executive Leadership & Team Management: A credible and inspiring leader of high-performing teams, with the ability to drive performance, coach talent, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in data.
• Influence & Stakeholder Engagement: Strong ability to engage and influence at executive and GM levels, driving business alignment, adoption, and change in a complex and fast-moving environment.
• Governance, Risk & Quality Oversight: Expertise in embedding data governance, risk management, quality assurance, and compliance practices to ensure the delivery of trusted, high-impact data products and insights.

With respect, integrity and honesty, responsibilities include:

• Own security posture across cloud, on‑prem and OT platforms, driving compliance with ASD Essential 8, AESCSF, SOCI and ISO 27001.
• Harden & defend: implement CIS, NIST and AWS best practices, configure monitoring & logging, and lead forensic investigations end‑to‑end.
• Lead incident response — triage, containment, remediation and executive post‑mortems that sharpen our playbooks.
• Champion identity security: design and optimise AD / AAD, Okta, PingID and MFA solutions for zero‑trust access.
• Embed DevSecOps by partnering with delivery squads to automate security controls, penetration testing and IaC governance.
• Coach & uplift: mentor engineers, run threat‑hunting workshops and cultivate a learning culture of continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring:

• Previous experience in dedicated cyber‑security roles with demonstrable AWS workload hardening & SIEM / SOC exposure.
• Proven track record aligning to ASD Essential 8, ISO 27001 or NIST SP 800‑53; AESCSF knowledge ideal.
• Deep hands‑on skill with IDAM platforms (AD/AAD, Okta, Ping, Microsoft Authenticator) and zero‑trust principles.
• Forensic investigation & threat‑intel chops — you can gather evidence, trace root cause and close the loop with lessons learned.
• Strong grasp of virtualisation & containerisation (VMware, Hyper‑V, Docker, Kubernetes) and DevSecOps pipelines.

Sharp problem‑solver with stakeholder finesse, you translate technical risk into business language and keep calm under pressure.
