About the Opportunity

The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is the University’s most senior information technology leader, overseeing a team of over 300 staff to provide client-focused IT services to all University employees. As a member of the Corporate Services senior leadership team, the CDO also serves as a key adviser to the University’s Executive Group.

A core responsibility of the CDO is to develop and implement the University’s IT and Digital Strategy, which is a vital enabler of the broader institutional strategy. To achieve this, the CDO leads the Digital Solutions team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and responsive technology services that meet the evolving needs of stakeholders. The role has a strong emphasis on driving digital transformation, strengthening cyber resilience, fostering strategic partnerships, and ensuring disciplined management of IT investments and value delivery.

This role also plays a crucial part in the University’s fraud and corruption control efforts. The CDO is expected to be well-versed in the University’s Fraud and Corruption Control Framework and is accountable for effectively managing the relevant prevention, detection, and reporting controls within their area of responsibility.

About you

• The occupant of this position will hold relevant tertiary qualifications in the information technology and systems field and/or relevant extensive experience demonstrating the skills, knowledge and expertise appropriate to the functions of the role.
• Proven experience operating in a large, complex organisation, demonstrating the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder environments, manage competing priorities, and deliver strategic outcomes across multiple business units.
• Candidates with experience in the education sector will be well regarded.

Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check.

This is a full time, five-year fixed term senior contract and is based at Brisbane South (Nathan). This position sits on the Corporate Services executive team and will come with robust support from a strong leadership team, as well as day to day support from a highly regarded Executive Officer.

Network Engineer

The Role:

We're looking for a skilled Network Engineer to support and maintain our enterprise network infrastructure. This hands-on role involves resolving technical issues, managing complex systems, and playing an integral part in transformation projects. You’ll also participate in a 24/7 on-call rotating roster, ensuring network availability and rapid response to incidents.

Your New Team:

You’ll join a team of 10–11 network specialists who are passionate about technology, team collaboration and delivering smart infrastructure solutions. The team is growing and evolving, with a flat structure that supports knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Level 2/3 technical support and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues

• Configure and operate network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and SD-WAN

• Perform monitoring, performance tuning, and trend analysis

• Maintain and improve network documentation, processes, and disaster recovery plans

• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call roster (with additional weekly allowance)

• Support both project delivery and operational tasks in a fast-paced environment

• Collaborate with stakeholders and escalate issues appropriately

• Mentor team members and share technical expertise

Qualifications & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in network operations and support within complex enterprise environments

• Strong hands-on knowledge across:

 – Cisco Nexus & Catalyst switching, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLAN, QoS

 – Palo Alto Firewalls, Meraki SD-WAN and Wireless

 – AWS Direct Connect, Megaport, F5 BIG-IP, Citrix NetScaler

• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG)

• Solid understanding of network security best practices

• Industry certifications (e.g. CCNA, Meraki Solutions Specialist)

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

• Desirable: CCNP, PCNSE/PCNSA, VoIP knowledge, ACI, Genesis, and SASE exposure
