About Women in Technology
Women in Technology (WiT) is one of Australia's largest communities supporting women across all fields of science and technology. As a not-for-profit organisation, we exist solely to create opportunities for our members and provide a dynamic platform to empower women from all disciplines to realise their career potential in STEM.
For more than twenty years, we have helped women find the inspiration and support they need to achieve their aspirations, and in doing so, we assist our community in maximising the talent, energy, and capacity they bring to our emerging digital economy.
To advance our mission, WiT is calling for expressions of interest from passionate volunteers who share our values and purpose to fill two to three volunteer Board positions.
Non-Executive Director Opportunity
This is a voluntary role, and WiT welcomes applicants from all over Australia. In addition to seeking individuals working in any of the science, technology, engineering, and math sectors, our Board has identified specific skills and experiences that would be valuable additions. The selected individual will actively contribute to our growth, oversee the organisation’s performance, and ensure that we meet our strategic objectives and operational outcomes. At times, Directors are requested to leverage their networks and facilitate introductions for the WiT General Manager to identify potential WiT sponsors and supporters.
In addition to those working in STEM, we encourage individuals with skills, knowledge, and experience in some of the following areas to apply:
- Legal and Corporate Governance expertise
- Experience working with not-for-profit entities
- Non-executive director experience
Directors are required to attend Board meetings and serve on at least one Committee. Meetings happen both online and in person. The role involves approximately 10 hours per month, including attending meetings, preparing for them, and engaging in other organisational activities as needed.
Applicants from all over Australia are welcome; you do not have to be from Queensland, where our headquarters is based. Please send your expression of interest to ebony.worth@wit.org.au by December 8, 2025. Your submission should include a brief biography and a statement outlining your motivation and interest in joining the WiT Board.
WiT is an organisation that promotes equal opportunity and is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone. We welcome and encourage applications from candidates of various backgrounds.
