- Base salary will be in the range of $113,377 - $127,112 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 8)
- Based at our St Lucia campus
About This Opportunity
QUBIC is seeking a Senior Manager, Translation and Partnerships to lead the translation of cutting-edge quantum biotechnology research into real-world solutions.
As a dynamic and strategic leader with a strong background in business development and partnerships, you will:
- Champion Innovation: Drive the practical application of quantum biotechnology research.

This multifaceted role is pivotal to bridging groundbreaking research with practical applications, driving impactful collaborations, and shaping the future of quantum biotechnology at QUBIC. This role also offers the opportunity for occasional domestic travel.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Business Development and Partnerships
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with researchers and professional services staff across the organisation.
- Build and manage key external relationships with researchers, funders, industrial partners, and other stakeholders.
Research Translation Support
- Lead efforts to translate cutting-edge research into practical applications.
- Work closely with researchers and faculty research commercial managers to identify opportunities for knowledge transfer, commercialisation, and support pathways to market and translation of research outcomes.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximise the impact of research outcomes, supported by a strong understanding of UQ policies and procedures to ensure effective stewardship and translation.
Training and Capacity Building
- Design and deliver training programs on research translation, intellectual property, and industry engagement, in collaboration with UniQuest and the Research Office.
- Foster a culture of innovation and knowledge exchange within the organisation.
Grant Proposals and Funding Opportunities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external funding agencies.
- Oversee and provide strategic support for internal schemes and initiatives within the Research Translation Portfolio.
- Work collaboratively with researchers and the research office to develop compelling grant proposals.
Communication and Engagement
- Interact and engage with stakeholders at all levels to create an alliance for promotion, technology trials and technology development for QUBIC researchers related to intellectual property, pre-commercialisation activities and industry engagement.
- Develop an evidence-based approach to regulation and policy questions relating to research translation and commercialisation in Australia, and the development and commercialisation of quantum technology.
- Provide technical, policy, and practical assistance to QUBIC members in understanding and responding to opportunities for input to Commonwealth and state government consultations and initiatives.

About You
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant management experience (preferably in the tertiary education or research sectors); or extensive relevant experience and expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Demonstrated experience in successfully fostering collaborations with industry, academia, and funding agencies.
- Demonstrated understanding of intellectual property management and knowledge transfer, and proven success in translating research outcomes into practical applications.
- Knowledge and experience of industrial research requirements.
- A high level of oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise responsibilities and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including focusing on achieving outcomes while ensuring compliance with broad policy and procedural framework, within a large, complex institution.
- Evidence of assimilating new information rapidly and deploying such knowledge to the benefit of the organisation.
- Knowledge of the higher education research-funding environment is desirable.
