About the role

The Insights and Reporting Analyst is responsible for designing and managing performance reporting frameworks that measure SRA’s strategic, research, and operational outcomes. This role translates complex data into actionable insights to support corporate reporting and continuous improvement. By fostering strong relationships across the business, the analyst ensures alignment with strategic goals and delivers high-quality performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage SRA’s performance reporting framework to measure and assess SRA’s end to end performance, achievement and tracking of key performance indicators and metrics, that are accessible for staff.
  • Measure SRA’s research and strategic performance using industry-wide surveys and other mechanisms to collect and translate industry/partner/government insights to drive business improvement.
  • Design and manage SRA’s monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including the development and implementation of appropriate systems, methodologies, and processes.
  • Undertake business analysis activities to support corporate, Board and external stakeholder reporting responsibilities including qualitative and quantitative data collection, data interpretation and data presentation (graphical, tabular, written).
  • Support communication activities to disseminate planning, monitoring and evaluation information.
  • Coordinates internal and external corporate reporting including strategic and research investment performance and performance against funding agreements with the state and federal governments.
  • Coordinates evaluations of research investments, including impact assessments and funding agreements with federal and state governments and the implementation of findings and recommendations to drive business improvement.
  • Ensure performance monitoring and reporting systems are program logic based and align with the strategic plan and annual operating plan and key performance indicators agreed.
  • Build strong relationships with researchers and program managers and provide guidance as required to ensure monitoring and reporting processes are understood and supported with alignment workshops held across the business and with industry.
  • Produce accurate, quality and timely performance plans and reports for the SRA Board, investors and content for corporate documents such as annual operating plan, strategic plans, annual reports and impact pathway.

About you

You will bring with you the following qualifications, capabilities and experience:

Essential

  • Three years relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business Management, Finance or relevant business strategy and performance monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in strategic and operational planning, monitoring and evaluation, with particular expertise in establishing program logic based organisational performance monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated high-level conceptual and analytical skills with respect to qualitative and quantitative data analysis, interpretation and reporting.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage relationships and partnerships with senior internal and external personnel.
  • High level written communication skills, including report writing.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills including proficient use of MS Office programs (particularly Excel) and experience with database packages, with the ability to produce tables and graphs suitable for external audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to develop and apply analysis and insights to generate strategic approaches and plans that positively influence organisational direction and results.
  • Demonstrated high level project management skills with strong attention to detail, ability to effectively multitask, set expectations and escalate issues when appropriate.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a research organisation in a stakeholder / monitoring and evaluation role with a strong appreciation of the policy landscape surrounding research and development and extension.
