Your opportunity:

As a Domain Architect – Technology, you’re key to shaping the future of technology at EQL. Sitting within the Domain Architecture team, you define and maintain our technology landscape – spanning both legacy systems and emerging innovations – ensuring our architecture aligns with our business strategy and supports our future growth.

While your role focusses on developing high-level and detailed architectural specifications, standards, patterns, reference architectures and frameworks, it’s also about building consensus, influencing stakeholders, and driving meaningful change. You work closely with senior leaders, operational teams, delivery teams, and fellow architects to shape a cohesive, forward-thinking technology roadmap that underpins EQL’s digital transformation.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Developing technology reference architectures, standards, and patterns to guide technology adoption, solution design, and implementation.
• Championing best practice and mature architectural principles across the business.
• Engaging with external vendors and suppliers to stay ahead of evolving products, services, and associated technology roadmaps.
• Providing expert guidance across solution designs, ensuring architecture solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
• Acting as a trusted advisor, working alongside architects to provide deep technical expertise and architectural leadership.
• Driving innovation, helping to embed emerging technologies such as AI and cloud-based solutions to accelerate EQL’s digital strategy.

Your remuneration starts from $184k per annum + 14.75% super for a 9-day fortnight, and from $208k per annum + 14.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.

What you’ll bring:

Relevant tertiary qualifications and certifications including:

• Essential – A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Desirable – Formal architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF or those from major cloud/technology providers).

As for your technical expertise, we need you to have:

• A strong technical background in architecture with 5+ years’ hands-on experience delivering end-to-end digital solutions within large, complex organisational environments.
• A proven track record in conducting thorough options analysis, developing and implementing technology roadmaps, and designing solutions that solve complex problems and deliver customer value.
• Experience in designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions with expertise in majority of the following technologies: Microsoft’s M365 ecosystem including SharePoint Online, Exchange and Teams; Microsoft Modern Workplace technologies and capabilities; Microsoft’s Power Platform; and Microsoft Active Directory / EntraID.
• Experience working across a contemporary digital environment built on hybrid cloud-based solutions and technology, including technologies such as: Microsoft Azure and AWS Services; Infrastructure and Virtualisation; and Networking, Storage, and Databases.

To complement your technical expertise, you also bring:

• Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to facilitate discussions, negotiate effectively, and build productive relationships across the business.
• A talent for translating complex technical requirements into clear, actionable solutions.

We’re currently on a mission to uplift our enterprise data capabilities – modernising how we manage and use our data – and we’re looking for a seasoned Data Engineer (referred to internally as a Senior Data Platform Specialist) to help shape the transformation.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at our Newstead Office in Brisbane.

Your opportunity:

As a Senior Data Platform Specialist (Data Engineer), you lead the design and delivery of scalable, cloud-based data pipelines that meet EQL’s diverse reporting, analytics, and big data needs.

You work as part of our Enterprise Intelligence team, building modern data solutions on a petabyte-scale cloud-native platform using AWS, Databricks Jobs, Delta Live Tables, and FiveTran. Your work ensures that clean, reliable data is delivered where it’s needed – both on time and at scale.

You take ownership of supporting pipelines in production, using your deep technical expertise to investigate and resolve issues quickly and effectively. As source systems evolve, you assess impacts, adapt pipelines, and collaborate closely with report and dashboard developers to keep everything running smoothly.

Beyond your technical contributions, you’re also a mentor to our other data engineers – helping guide the team’s transition from on-premise ETL tools to modern cloud environments, and sharing knowledge along the way.

Your remuneration starts from $158k per annum + 14.75% super for a 9-day fortnight, and from $179k per annum + 14.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.

What you’ll bring:

You’re an experienced data engineer known for your ability to design, build, and support scalable data solutions across complex digital environments.

Your technical expertise includes:

·      Proven experience designing, implementing, and operating high-volume data pipelines – more specifically, handling data from 40+ source systems, processing terabytes of information, and managing thousands of tables.

·      Expert-level skills in Power BI tenancy and gateway administration.

·      Strong SQL and data modelling capabilities.

·      Solid experience working with AWS-based data platforms.

·      Proficiency in Python (or strong coding skills in a similar language).

·      Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines, ideally Git and GitHub Actions.

·      Desirable only – Experience with SAP Datasphere, Data Services, IBM DataStage, Oracle, SAP HANA, AWS Aurora (or PostgreSQL), Microsoft SQL Server, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, or SAP BusinessObjects.

·      Desirable only – An interest in AI model training or MLOps (e.g. Databricks MLflow).

What about qualifications and certifications?

While not mandatory, the following qualifications and certifications are highly regarded and will help you stand out:

·      A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

·      Certifications in Databricks, FiveTran, Power BI, or AWS.
